Often enough I will be going to a new place. Everytime a brand new poem with a fresh stamp will be put in my suitcase.

Diamante and Haiku

My assignment is to write a diamante and haiku based on the theme of my blog.

Diamante Intro: I have travelled to Sierra Leone and I am comparing a typical child to a soldier. This poem implies that these two lives should never be combined into one life (child soldier).

Child and Soldier NOT Child Soldier

                                         Child
                                     Smile Happy
                            Playing Laughing Imagining
                      Silly  Energetic  Tough  Discipline
                              Battling  Shooting  Killing
                                     War  Weapons
                                           Soldier

Haiku Intro: My poetry is supposed to be themed on the destinations that I've arrived at. But I thought I'd write a poem about the actual travel, over the sea.

Sea for Yourself

A salty sea spray
Waves crash against mighty stones
The surface glistens

  1. Both beautiful poems! Well done. First one has so much meaning compressed into those few words. Second one was very descriptive for just a few lines. Love the pun in the title of the second one! ;)
